In Ethiopia, we were not only able to put our academic learning into practice, but we were able to contribute ...The staff members and children at the transition home taught us about their country and their passions, and they became true friends.

This study took place at the America World Adoption Association (AWAA) Transition Home (TH) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was designed as a community-based participatory needs assessment in order to elucidate the needs of the TH staff and future work or research opportunities, especially regarding care for the children with special needs. Staff members of the home were interviewed on several topics, including the perceived strengths and needs of the TH, current physical and emotional care, and their ideas and opinions for future projects and research.
