Dr. Rodolfo Villarreal-Calderon in Guatemala
The Center for Global Health/Dean’s Global Graduate Medical Award is generously supported by the Office of the Associate Dean for International Programs, and is intended to encourage and support medical residents to seek experiences in global health. Residents interested in international health or research experiences are encouraged to explore existing or potential collaborations that exist through sustained International Exchanges with Uganda, Tanzania and Guatemala.
Funding for global health rotation comes from different sources depending on your department. Residents from departments with private or departmental funds to support travel will need to contact their department administration for travel reimbursement and procedures. For residents without a source of funding, the "Dean's Global Graduate Medical Award" is available through the Center for Global Health. Award amounts vary by year depending on the number of applicants and amounts cannot be guaranteed prior to travel. Applications are due in January of the academic year in which travel will occur. Please be aware that this date may fall before or after travel occurs. Residents may only receive funding from one source. Funding through the Dean's Global Graduate Medical Award is limited and must not be requested if residents have another source of funding through their department or other awards.
All awarded funding is distributed via travel reimbursement. Please retain all receipts. Please call 434.243.6383 with any questions.
The application deadline has been extended to February 11, 2019.
