Eradicating Polio in Nigeria: The Role of State and Religious Actors in Healthcare Delivery
Professor Isaac Adewole is the former Minister for Health of Nigeria from 2015-2019. During his tenure, polio was virtually eradicated in Nigeria.
Professor Adewole is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was Vice- Chancellor of University of Ibadan before his appointment as Minister. He has also previously served as the provost for the College of Medicine at the University of Ibadan. His research interests are HIV, human papillomavirus and gynecologic oncology such as ovarian cancer, uterine cancer and cervical cancer.
