South African Delegation Visit: University of Venda (Univen) and University of the Free State (USF)

Representatives of a multi-institutional delegation focused on strengthening existing collaborations and exploring new opportunities with the University of Virginia will be on Grounds August 6-10. The delegation includes Pascal Bessong, Chair of the Department of Microbiology, University of Venda (Univen) in South Africa; Angelina Maphula, Department of Psychology, Univen; Gert Van Zyl, Dean of Health Sciences, University of the Free State (USF) also in South Africa; Corli Witthun, Vice-Rector Research, University of the Free StateCornelius Hagenmeier, the USF Director of International Affairs; and, Chevon Jacobs, Special Projects, Institutional Reporting and Research Internationalisation.

The Center for Global Health (CGH) led by Dr. Rebecca Dillingham, currently supports three NIH-funded training grants with the University of Venda as the institutional partner. We hope to continue to develop mutually beneficial opportunities with additional partners. Below please find a brief summary of the doctoral completion program to be discussed next week as well as bios for each of the visitors.
