Budget

Awards will cover reasonable direct costs necessary to carry out the approved research project over a period of 3 years. A maximum of $30,000 total will be provided. Monies may be carried over year-to-year. No more than $10,000 may be requested in the first year. Please use the Excel template to itemize your budget and break down by project year / total funds.

Budget items are primarily meant to support direct research costs. They may include, but are not limited to, data collection and analysis, research support (beyond what can be provided by separately funded student assistants), materials, data, software, travel, and research dissemination. Requests for summer salary support will be considered with clear justification. Funds to support international partners are allowable provided all necessary UVA compliance regulations are followed. CGHE staff can assist with adherence to these policies. Though not required, please indicate any matching or supplemental funds that may provide additional support to this project.

Indirect or facilities and administration (F&A) costs are not allowed.

Please include your budget and justification in the single PDF AND submit your budget as an Excel file in the portal.

Review

The interdisciplinary proposal review committee will base its decision on its assessment of the significance of the global health equity issue addressed, the quality of the approach described, the role of community partners, prior mentorship experience, the potential for engagement of learners, and feasibility including timeline and budget.  Opportunities for sustained engagement with the project and the community engaged beyond the period of the award will be viewed favorably.

Grant Management

The award recipient is responsible for the timely submission of expenses and adherence to all UVA and CGHE policies.
