Mukhethwa Munzhedzi

Global Infectious Disease Research Training Fellow | 2018

Mukhethwa Munzhedzi has obtained her Master of Science in Microbiology from the University of Venda, South Africa. She is a PhD student and GIDRT fellow. Mukhethwa is mentored by Professor Pascal Bessong at the University of Venda and; Dr. Jennifer Lynn Guler as well as Dr. Elizabeth T McQuade at the University of Virginia.

Her research focuses on malaria in Limpopo Province, South Africa and the burden of infection and genetic characterization. As a GIDRT fellow, she has spent part of her first year learning molecular techniques at UVA that she will use for her lab work. She will continue to work towards her PhD in microbiology at the University of Venda and return to the University of Virginia to do further lab work and data analysis.
