Center for Global Health Scholar Awards are intended to cover the costs of travel, living expenses, and, if needed, modest project supplies.
Below please find costs to consider for your work:
- Airfare
- Ground Transportation
- Medical Evacuation Insurance (CISI for all UVA students; apply within your Student Projects Abroad registration. Cost is generally ~$30/month.)
- Required Vaccines and Medications (All students should visit student health or their PCP to prepare for travel. All vaccinations and medications should be purchased and obtained in the US, prior to departure.)
- Accommodations on site
- Food
- Data and Phone costs (will you have an unlocked phone or buy a phone with a new sim card on site?)
- Gifts for collaborators or hosts
- Local IRB (Institutional Review Board) fees
Costs vary at each site and according to the specific project.
